Introduction of IDL Lab.

 

Field of research

    The laboratory was established in 2005. The research work has focused on the research and application of liquid crystal (LC) physics and liquid crystal optics, including transflective liquid crystal display (LCD), bistable LCD, polymer dispersed liquid crystal pi-cell and so on. In the laboratory, we have developed a transmittance measured system. It can measure the cell gap thickness, pretilt angle and some basic parameters of the liquid crystal cell. In addition, the phase retardation measured system has been set up completly. Then, we can obtain the relationship between phase retardation and incident angle. Therefore, we develop a method to decide the pretilt angle of the horizontal alignment cell surface.

                           

                                                                       

Future research

    In the future, we will continue to focus on basic research and application of the liquid crystal. Including  the flow phenomenon of liquid crystal, liquid crystal added nano material impact on the electro-optical properties and flow phenomenon, improvement of the polymer dispersed liquid crystal display.
